Thomas Howard Anderson, 62, of Fowler, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on July 13, 2026.
Tom was a skilled painter and drywaller by trade, and many who knew his work would tell you he was the best around. He took great pride in what he did and left his mark on countless homes and lives throughout the community.
He found his greatest joy outdoors, especially with a fishing pole in his hand. Whether he was out on the lake with friends or sitting on the bank fishing with his grandsons, those moments brought him peace. He was also known for his incredible washoo-throwing skills, and if you ever played against him, you knew you had your work cut out for you.
Tom was also a proud, longtime member of Fowler American Legion Post 57, where he found purpose in serving both his fellow veterans and his community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, never hesitating to volunteer wherever he was needed. Whether it was working at Legion events, helping with community projects, or simply showing up for a friend or neighbor, Tom gave his time generously and without expecting anything in return. His kind heart, dependable nature, and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
More than anything, Tom will be remembered for his generous heart. He never hesitated to help someone in need, whether they were family, a lifelong friend, or a complete stranger. That willingness to lend a hand was something he learned from his father, and it became one of the qualities that defined him. He freely gave his time and energy to causes that mattered to him and to the people he loved, leaving a legacy of kindness and service that will not be forgotten.
Tom is survived by his mother, Linda Anderson; his three daughters, Heather Anderson, Juliene Muller, and Kayla Sorenson; his brother, William Anderson. His Grandchildren Braxton Oscar Terrell, Myles Leslie Funk, and Kyron, Kaleah, and Kameron Jessie along with his significant other, Melissa Martin, and hundreds of friends whom he considered family and who could always count on him, no matter the day or time.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Anderson Jr; his grandparents and several beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins and lifelong friends who welcomed him home.
Tom’s passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. While words cannot fully express the loss we feel, we find comfort in the countless memories he gave us, the lives he touched, and the example he set through his generosity, hard work, and unwavering love for family and friends. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
In accordance with Tom’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral or memorial service. Instead, family and friends will gather at a later date for a huge celebration of his life—a time to share stories, laughter, and memories in honor of the man who touched so many lives. Details of the celebration will be announced when they become available.
