Michael “Mike” Huhn, 70, of Mulberry, Indiana, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 9, 2026. He was born May 24, 1955, in Rensselear, Indiana, to H. Wayne and Betty (Williamson) Huhn. After graduating from Kankakee Valley High School, Class of 1973, Mike earned his Electronics degree from Valparaiso Technical Institute. He then spent many years working in the region’s steel mills.
In 1988, Mike made a career move and was one of the first hired personnel at the Subaru of Indiana (SIA) plant that was being built in Lafayette, Indiana. After training at the company’s location in Japan, he returned to supervise and assist with the machine and robot installation at the new local plant. He remained at the site for 29 years before retiring in 2017.
On August 15, 1992, Mike married Martha (Preston) Nisen, forming an extended family with two wonderful daughters and making their home in Mulberry. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, working in the yard, helping others, and just being outdoors. He was always keeping himself busy! But when the grandchildren entered the picture—they took priority.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Martha. Along with his extended family, Beth (Brent) Sheets of Battle Ground, Indiana; Kristin (Toby) Boyer of Frankfort, Indiana; Crissy (Scott) Romo of Hobart, Indiana; and Steven (Kim) Eilenberger of Mississippi.
