Johnny “John” Ray Phillips, 63, of Wingate, Indiana, passed away on October 20th, 2025, at 4:25 p.m at his home peacefully surrounded by his family and beloved pets, CoCo and Merle Haggard Phillips. He was born March 2nd, 1962, in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Jackie and Opal Phillips. John graduated from McCutcheon High School in 1980, he then attended boot camp for the National Guard. He worked for 40+ years as an insulator for various companies.

Johnny married his wife, Jamie Phillips, June 12th, 2004, in Lafayette, Indiana, and she survives. He really enjoyed showing off his accomplishments to his wife and kids. John could often be found watching football or engaging in outdoor activities like fishing and sitting around the campfire. Nothing brought him more joy than the time that was spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Surviving with his wife are 3 daughters, Destinee (Jake) Edison, Jasmine (Zach) Andrews both of Crawfordsville, Kate (Blake) Pettice of Darlington; 1 son: Daiven Phillips of Wingate; 6 grandchildren: Conner Edison, Lukas and Layla Hollis, Kensli, Evalynn, and Jackson Pettice; and various nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Windy and Brenda; 2 brothers, Jackie and Kenneth; 1 niece, 1 nephew, and his beloved dog of many years, Buford Eugene Phillips.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can me made in honor of Johnny to the American Cancer Society, and the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County.
