Jeffrey Lewis Congleton

Jeffrey Lewis Congleton, 73, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at his residence in Covington, Indiana.

Jeff loved being around his friends, live music, and being outdoors. When asked what he was doing, while sitting with a beer in hand, he would say with his usual wit, “mildewing”. He had a great sense of humor and a big, generous heart.

“Jeffro”, as he was known to his closest friends, was a member of the legendary 1969 North Vermillion Boys Basketball team, which made it to the Sweet Sixteen. He was also a lifelong IU basketball fan.

Jeff is survived by his son, Joseph (Rebecca) Congleton of Augusta, Georgia; his step-daughter, Delana Hislope Grubb of Lafayette; several adult grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Nancy Congleton; and many nieces and nephews. 

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, William Lewis and Sara Ann “Peg” (Lewis) Congleton; sister, Sandra Bottom; brother, Russ Congleton; and many loving aunts and uncles.

Friends and loved ones are invited to stop by the Northside Pub in Covington on Friday, March 13, beginning at 7:30 p.m. to share stories about Jeff and say their goodbyes.
