The family of Elmer Lewis Wilson,74, is deeply saddened to announce his passing on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Louie was born on December 6, 1951, in Greensboro, Kentucky, to Magdalene Dile and Silas Elmer Wilson.

Louie lived a full and remarkable life. He joined the Army in 1970, where he served in Vietnam as Co D 1st maintenance battalion. He then dedicated his life to becoming a Mazda Master Service Technician for the next 30 years at Bill Andrew’s. He later retired from Caterpillar.

He touched the hearts of everyone he met throughout his life. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Janice Kay Wilson, whom he married on August 15, 1987, and their 4 children, Joe Wilson, Jimmy (Heather) Wilson, Julie Wilson, and Danielle (Cary) Denham. He was greatly loved by all 12 grandchildren, Dazhia (Kevin), Josie, Alexia, Madison, Bryson, Lillian, Dontae, Jacob (Nikki), Shaunté, Tyler (Bri), Zachariah (Rachael), and Kali (Ben); and all 18 great-grandchildren, whom he adored. Louie was blessed to have siblings like John (Marcia) Wilson, Carl (Carolyn) Wilson, Jerry Wilson, Betty (Dave) Vergane, Linda (Jim) Honn, Kathryn Willbanks, Frances Walker, Delores “Porky” McCollum, Teresa (Ola) Simmons, Judy “Mickey” (Jerry) Ridge, Marty (Kandy) Wooten; and many neices, nephews, and cousins.

Louie will be remembered by all for his compassion, ambition, and love for fun. He loved God and his Family the most.

A celebration of life will be held at American Legion Post 11 in Lafayette on April 25, 2026, beginning at 4:00 PM with an Honor Guard Ceremony to pay tribute to Louie's service in Vietnam.
