Debra Ann Rex, 69, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family, on October 27, 2025.

Debra was born in Danville, Illinois, on December 2, 1955, the daughter of the late Noah and Alice Buzzard. A lifelong resident of Portland Arch, she graduated from Attica High School in 1975.

Debra worked for many years as a cook at Liberty Village in Danville, Illinois, where her kindness and hardworking spirit touched many lives. She enjoyed the simple pleasures—playing cards, camping under the stars, fishing on quiet mornings, and sharing laughter and stories with those she loved most.

On July 8, 1982, she married the love of her life, William E. Rex, in Danville, Illinois. Together they shared 43 years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and cherished memories.

Debra’s legacy lives on through those she leaves behind. In addition to her husband, William, she is survived by her children: Steve Rex of Lebanon; Joan (Troy) Davis of Portland Arch; Betty Jo Phillips of Frankfort; Michael (Sherry) Hanover of Crawfordsville; and Amber Clevenger of Portland Arch. She is also survived by her sister, Diana (Bruce) Luper of Clarks Hill; her many grandchildren—Chery (Michael)l Long, Ashley Davis, Alexis Rex, Aubrey (Ryan) Millburg, Paige (David) Hanover, Stephanie Phillips, Taylor Clevenger, Kendyl Clevenger, Erica Rex, and Cassandra Molenaar—and her grandsons, James Phillips, Cameron Phillips, Jonathon Phillips, TJ Davis, William Davis, Michael (Olivia) Hanover, Justin Rex, Andrew Rex, and Peyton Rex; along with numerous great-grandchildren who brought her great joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Donnie Buzzard; and her son-in-law, Jason Clevenger.

Debra will be remembered for her warmth, her generous heart, and the gentle strength with which she faced life. Her love for her family was steady and sure, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
