It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Deborah (Grubbs) Spaulding of Muncie, who left this world on the morning of New Year’s Eve 2025 at 6:25 AM, surrounded by her brother Michael Grubbs (Muncie), and daughters Sandra “Alex” Wyman and Jasmine Spaulding (both of Indianapolis). Deborah was a loving daughter, brave mother, inspiring sister, cherished grandmother, and loyal friend.
Deborah now joins her father, Vernal; her mother, Doris “Ivonne” Grubbs; her long-time partner, Michael Spaulding; and her beloved granddaughter, Jennifer Gaumer, in the arms of the Lord. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Joseph Gaumer, Nash Pearson, Xandyr Evans (chosen mother Olantha “Sissy” Evans); two granddaughters who have found loving adoptive families; nephew Gavin Grubbs (partner, Shadae Phillip); great-nieces, Gabriella and Amari; and a growing number of great-grandchildren. Deborah enjoyed spoiling any child she could.
Deborah took immense pride in her long-term sobriety as a dedicated member of Narcotics Anonymous. A journey that started in Fairbanks, Alaska. She exemplified strength and resilience, having graduated from Muncie Central High School, where she was proud to be a member of the marching band. Known for her tenacity and unwavering commitment to her beliefs, Deborah inspired those around her with her passion and determination.
Although we have lost a vital part of our family tree, we find solace in knowing that it continues to grow, nourished by her love and spirit from above. Her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will forever remain in our hearts.
Details for a celebration of her life are still pending as our family takes time to grieve this profound loss. We invite all who knew and loved Deborah to join us in honoring her memory when the time comes.
Rest in peace, Deborah, free from the pain of this world. You will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
