David E. Pawlus, 70, of Winamac, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home along the Tippecanoe River on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
Born on May 5, 1955, in Hammond, Indiana, to Eugene Pawlus and Mary Ferber, David lived a life filled with love, hard work, and music.
On April 18, 1981, he married the love of his life, Judy. Together they shared 44 years of devotion, adventure, and family. Their journey carried them to Louisiana for a time before they returned to Indiana to plant deep roots and raise their children.
David’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own business, Hire a Husband, where he joyfully offered his skills to others. Later, he built a long career with USA Group (Sallie Mae), working his way from skip tracer to supervisor to reporting analyst. He retired in 2015 after more than 20 years of dedicated service.
Beyond his work, David found true joy in music, which accompanied him throughout his life and was a constant source of expression and connection.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Pawlus and Mary Ferber. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Pawlus; his children, Max Pawlus and Sarah (Jon) Rowe; his cherished grandchildren, Benjamin Pawlus, Juliette Rowe, and Holly Rowe. He is also survived by his sister, Melanie (John) Allen.
He leaves behind a life well-lived, a family well-loved, and memories that will be treasured always.
