Dale Michael Brooks Sr.

Mr. Dale Michael "Mike" Brooks, Sr., passed away on January 9, 2026, in West Lafayette, Indiana, at the age of 75. Born on April 25, 1950, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Dale and Mildred Brooks, Mike lived a life marked by devotion to family, service to his country, and a passion for simple joys.

Mike proudly served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Structural Mechanic (AMS3) with Fighter Squadron 151 (Fitron 151). His time in the military reflected his dedication and commitment to duty—qualities that remained with him throughout his life. Following his service, Mike channeled his skills into being a carpenter, with his son later following in his footsteps.

Above all else, Mike cherished his role as a father and grandfather. He is survived by his children, Tonya (Shawn) Ramey, Dale (LaDonna) Brooks, and Alicia (Danny Arthur) Brooks. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren, Dakota (Kelsey) Ramey, Taylor (Ashton) Hamrick, Piper Ramey, Bryce and Kadence Richardson, Presley Arthur, Addilyn Arthur, and a baby girl Arthur soon to arrive. He also held a special place in his heart for his grand-dogs, Arya and Jake Brooks. Mike was also blessed with several great-grandchildren.

Family was central to Mike’s life. He is also survived by his brother, Billy Brooks; sister, Dana Smith; nephews, Daseph Smith and Robbie Leming; and niece, Monica Hickey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Mildred Brooks; brother, Curt Brooks; and sister, Judie Maynard.

Mike found happiness in the everyday moments—especially when surrounded by those he loved. He had a deep affection for remote-controlled planes and took great pride in mowing his yard. These hobbies brought him peace and satisfaction and were often shared with those closest to him.

His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May it bring comfort to remember the laughter he shared, the love he gave so freely, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life.
