Cynthia "Cindy" (as she hated being called Cynthia) Louise Stansberry was born on September 15th, 1959 in Fontana, California, to the late Eugene and Georgianna (Seelig) Hullinger – or as everyone called them, Gene and Pilly.
She graduated from McCutcheon High School in 1978, and married her husband Bruce on June 21, 1980. She spent many years working at the Tippecanoe County Courthouse, and then during her plant era, Benedict’s Floral Boutique and Bennett’s Greenhouse. Cindy loved flowers and plants and could tell you the name of almost any type you could show her.
She also spent many years being involved in the lives of her children, including as a Girl Scout troop leader and helping out with Boy Scouts. She treasured her 45 years of marriage to Bruce, with lots of time spent camping, including as part of a camping club, attending re-enactments at the Feast of the Hunter’s Moon, and travelling to state parks in their RV. They also spent much of the last 5 years crafting and selling beautiful stained glass. Cindy also enjoyed doing anything she could to help out those she cared for, including for her nieces and nephews in her role as a loving aunt. Her compassionate heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
After a hard-fought battle with cancer, Cindy passed away on the morning of July 4, 2025. In addition to her mother and father, she is reunited in death with her beloved son Brandon, as well as her brother Steve Hullinger and her sister Sandra LeClaire. In addition to her husband, she is terribly missed by her sister Lynda, wife of Brad Velten; her brothers Bob Hullinger and Larry Hullinger; her daughter Brittany, wife of Matt Gerberich, and her grand-daughter Katherine (Kat). She loved spending time with Kat and took any chance she could take to spend time with her. The two of them shared an amazing bond that not even death will take away.
The family would like to invite all to come celebrate the life and memory of Cindy at Rush Pavillion on July 17, 2025 from 5 – 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider buying yourself a plant in honor of Cindy (bonus points for keeping it alive!), doing something kind for those around you, or contributing to help cover medical expenses at https://gofund.me/a52e058b
