Listen to Obituary

On the evening of Friday, May 22, 2026, during Shavuot (Pentecost) Carol Ann (Peabody) Brinkerhoff went to be with Jesus. She was 68 years of age. Her death was related to complications with Alzheimer’s and lung cancer. She fought a 9-year battle with each, which included intensive surgery for breast cancer in 2021. Carol passed away at her home, in the presence of her loving family, and under the care of her devoted husband and full-time caregiver, Neil Brinkerhoff.

Carol was born June 15th, 1957, in Lebanon, Indiana, to Deanna (Brown) Tyler and Charles “Phillip” Peabody. She asked Jesus to be her Savior when she was 8 years old. Then, after many strong hardships in her life, she fully dedicated her life to Jesus at the age of 25 and never ever looked back. She said, “I’m following Jesus, and I don’t care what anyone says or tries to do about it !!!” (Ruth 1:16 & Joshua 24:15)!!!

Carol met Neil when she still owned the Odds & Ends Consignment Shop in Lebanon, Indiana. They married on November 3rd, 1990, at Faith Baptist church in Portland, Indiana, and then he was given the privilege of God using him to make it possible for her to fulfill her life-long dream of serving as a missionary. Together, “As One”, Neil and Carol served in Ukraine, Germany, and Israel from 2004 to 2012, with prior short-term missions on Indian reservations here in the States.Neil says that “[He] loved her very, very deeply and always will for all of God’s eternity.” He states that “Carol faithfully took my name and loved me unconditionally for almost 36 years, 2nd to Jesus’s love only, and she hung on here until I could say ‘goodbye until we meet again in the air with Jesus’, till forever on!!!”Neil will forever be changed by the love he and Carol shared. One constant reminder of their love and commitment is Neil’s own name. When they met, his name was dennis; he changed his name in 2017, and honoring Carol’s heart was his main reason for doing so.

Carol will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her Husband, Neil Brinkerhoff; Mother, Deanna; Brothers, Mark Peabody & Rich Peabody; Father, Charles Peabody; Step-Mother, Thelma Peabody; Sons, Luke Brinkerhoff, Levi Brinkerhoff, James McPeak, and Jacob McPeak; Step-Son, Dustin Brinkerhoff; Step-Daughter, Jennifer (Brinkerhoff) Coffer; and 13 grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Details for a celebration honoring Carol’s life will be announced soon.
